Hello everyone, well I did it.  We have had a great time here in Portland.  My sisters new house is beautiful and we have had lots of fun.  My daughter almost immediately stopped asking me for stuff and went straight to her.  We went to the zoo and really enjoyed it.  It was huge and the animals were quite active.

Now the race, there were some bigger hills than I imagined, and they were long.  Not a very pretty course but it was fun because there were a lot of people. I start out too fast and started to slow down about mile ten.  There were some miles with the hills that were pretty slow.  My last 5 miles weren't too bad, I hurt like no other, but they went really well and I didn't slow down all that bad.  I was going to register in my weight division but we got to the expo late and they were practically shoving us out the door and I forgot.  You had to register for it at the expo only.

The finish line was just around and corner and that bothered me, but we were able to pick up about 10 more  people in the last .2.  I measured 26.55 on my garmin and I think that was because of all my weaving around people.  So if I hadn't have done that I would have only been about 3 minutes short of a pr.  But I was 6 minutes short of my all time pr and that was set 3yrs ago.  I was 10 minutes faster that st george marathon last year.  And this is my second fastest overall.  We had sprinkles most of the way and good little down pour for a couple of minutes. But I don't think it was as bad as the st georgers had.......he he

looking at results online I finished ahead of 33 percent, and 44 percent of the females.

My race pace to 10k was 5.0 and from 10K to half 4.7, half to 21 4.3, then 21 to finish 4.5

Glad to hear your race went well. It definitely sounds like you had better weather than us ducks. The headwind and pouring rain made for a long, cold run.

Enjoy your vacation!

Glad to hear from ya! You did a great job! Congratulations on another marathon finish! Have fun with the family!

Yeah Laurie!!! You rock. I'm so glad Chris was there to run with you. Isn't it crazy with all this rain on marathon day? The day after St. George was perfect weather. I felt like the sunshine was taunting me, like it was hiding on purpose during the race!

They also had gummie bear stops, but when we got to the first one they were all out but we saw gummie bears on the ground for more than a mile afterwards, now that was taunting us too......

We even saw bums sleeping under a bridge too, some were still there when we came back around that way at the end of the race

Sounds like quite a race venue and looks like you did a great job.

Great job Laurie! Was this your 8th? Cool, it was your second best considering it was more difficult than you thought!! The rain in SG was so strange and for the first three miles Christina and I kept saying, "This is so weird".....

Another marathon to add to your growing list!! That was a great time!! Way to go Laurie!!! Are you home yet? I think you should come down to Liberty Park Sat. and run with Marion and Maurine and I and who ever else shows up, I am going to go VERY slowly and enjoy the morning, it may be raining, but I think we are all used to wading thru water after our soggy races!! You are awesome Laurie, new job, and an out of state marathon and babies.... WONDERWOMAN!!!!!
